Registering
a Domain Name
Once
you have gone through the process of choosing
a Domain Name and checking that it is still available, then
you are ready to register it. You can either do this yourself or
ask the company building your website for you to do it on your behalf
- in fact, it is very common now that the registration of a domain
name is included in the cost of creating the website for you. For
example, in the case of Rosetta Alba's Business
Starter and Business
Plus packages, the cost of registering a domain name and hosting
the website is included in the price.
It is,
however, worth bearing in mind that you do not actually own the
domain name, instead, you are paying for the right to use that name
- this is the reason that you find registration is offered for one,
two or more years. After the period that you registered the domain
name for has expired, then you will need to re-register it for a
further period which has a cost associated with it. You will be
contacted in advance to ensure that you can re-register the domain
name without losing the name - in the case of Rosetta Alba, we will
contact you 8 weeks before registration is required to ensure that
all progresses smoothly. However, do make sure that you keep your
contact records up to date!
If you
are uncertain about how best to choose or register a domain name,
then we can review your options with you and advise on which would
be most appropriate. We can also register
most top level domain names for you either as an independent
service or as part of creating a website for you.
