Renewing
a Domain Name
When
you register a Domain Name, you do not actually own the domain name;
instead, you are paying for the right to use that name for a certain
period of time and this is the reason that you find that Domain
Name registration is offered for one, two or more years.
After
the period that you registered the domain name for has expired then
you will need to re-register it for a further period and this will
have a cost associated with it. Renewing a domain name is very simple
but at the same time very important, particularly when you have
spent time and money building up the brand recognition for your
website and company.
Generally,
you will be contacted in advance by the organisation that you registered
the Domain Name through, so that you can re-register the domain
name in good time. In the case of Rosetta Alba, you are contacted
8 weeks before renewal of the name is required to check that you
wish to renew it and then we ensure that all progresses smoothly.
However, do make sure that you keep your contact records up to date
so that you can be contacted!
It is
not necessary for the same company to do both the registration of
the Domain Name and the hosting of the website. These are two separate
activities which can be done individually, though if you are setting
up your first website then you would be well advised to link the
two to ease the process for you.
If you
are uncertain about how best to choose, register or renew a domain
name, then we can review your options with you and advise on which
would be most appropriate. We can also register
most top level domain names for you either as an independent
service or as part of creating a website for you.
